Growing your own radish shoots – how it works

Radish microgreens are among the fastest-growing varieties. You don't need much: a tray, a little soil or coco coir, and a bit of patience.

Step-by-step instructions:

1. Sowing
   Use a shallow growing tray with about 2 cm of potting soil or coconut fibre.
   Sow approximately 12 g of seeds per 25×25 cm tray, or 24–28 g per 25×50 cm tray.
   Press the seeds lightly and moisten the soil well.
2. Germination phase (3–5 days dark)
   Cover the tray with a second tray or lid and place some weight on top. This will help the sprouts grow firmly and straight up.
   After a few days, the sprouts will lift the cover on their own – time for light!
3. Growing under light
   Place the tray on a sunny windowsill or under a grow light.
   Water daily from below to prevent mold formation.
4. Harvest (after 7–10 days)
   Cut the radish shoots just above the roots with a clean knife or scissors.
   Store them in the refrigerator, airtight, and consume within a few days.
